A graduate of Mississippi University, Betty
has completed training programs at several Floral Design Schools. She has earned
Certificates of Design from four different schools in the United States and in 1985 was
awarded a Certification from the Dutch Masters School in Holland. An accredited
member of the American Institute of Floral Design (AIFD), Betty has presented design
programs and competed in design competitions throughout North America. In 1981 she
was the Mississippi State Designer of the Year. Betty was the runner up in the 1982
Southern Retail Floral Association Design Competition and first runner up in the 1985 FTD
Americas' Cup Regional Competition. In 2003 she was the winner of the Gardener's
Challenge Award presented by the Northwest Flower & Garden Show.
Betty owned her own floral shop in
Mississippi for 13 years and currently is the assistant manager for the Bon Marche
Corporate Floral. Her wealth of experience, mastery of floral design and patient
teaching style is a wonderful addition to the student's learning experience. Betty
serves as an instructor for Basic Floral Design, Advanced Floral Design and all Special
Interest Classes.
When not teaching, designing, presenting
design seminars, competing in design competitions, or earning another design certification
(where does she get her energy?), Betty loves to attend film festivals and drive around
Seattle in her "way-too-cute" yellow Mini Cooper. |
