PREPARING YOUR MATERIALS

Begin by thoroughly soaking your Oasis Foam Balls with preservative and preparing your flowers using standard care and handling procedures.  You can refer to our flower library for full details on this process.

Decide where you are going to set up your "spray station".  I would suggest a back porch or patio.  Protect exposed surfaces by covering with a layer of plastic sheeting.  Large garbage bags work great.

CREATING YOUR GOLD LEAF BOWLS

Remove each salal leaf from the stem.  You will not need any stem length for this project.   Then, working with 10 leaves at a time, lay them on the protective plastic   and spray with the adhesive according to the can directions.  Beginning at the top, apply each leaf to the plastic bowl.  Continue applying the leaves in a "fish scale"fashion until the entire bowl is covered.  A last leaf glued to the base will give you a professional, finished look.  A light coat of gold spray paint finishes the bowl with style.  If you would like a richer gold finish, spray again with a second light coat of gold.

CREATING THE VIBRANT ORBS

To create the floral orbs, cut each blossom leaving a 2" stem length for insertion in the foam ball.  Both roses and carnations are prepared in this manner.  Place each blossom into the wet foam radiating outward from the center point.  You can set the orbs into your bowls to determine exact placement.
