Step1:  CREATING THE ARMATURE

Start with your Curly Willow stems…Begin by winding each stem through another and wrap them around into a loose framework. Begin by wrapping the stems around your hand. This will create a fairly small and compact wreath form.  Then, you can add additional branches to fill in the armature and create the handle.   If needed,  use a few pieces of 26 gauge wire to secure the willow armature into position.

Step 2: MATERIAL PREPARATION

Start by cleaning off the lower leaves  from the stems of the individual floral materials. Your goal is to remove anything that would end up in or below your hands while designing. (Usually anything 5-6" below the flower head)  The rose stems will need to be de-thorned. To protect your hands, use our sturdy  Rose Glove to easily remove the thorns.

Step 3: FILLING IN THE ARMATURE

Begin inserting the salal around  the willow armature  Continue by adding your salal into the wreath until nearly filled. To accent this foliage nest, add your Hypericum.  When finished, you should have a stable nest of willow and foliage.  You can set it down and rest your fingers for a moment.  Don't worry, the nest is quite stable and won't fall apart.
