Step 4:  THE FLOWER PLACEMENT
Continue the nosegay by adding the flowers one at a time. Turn the bouquet in your hand as you add each blossom to ensure a balanced symmetrical design. To create fuller, round appearance, angle each stem slightly to the left as you tuck it in to your hand. You will find that a uniform stem angle will result in a prettier, more professional looking arrangement.

If you find that the bouquet starts looking messy and disorganized, stop, pull out a few blossoms and begin again, paying extra attention to the stem angle. Once all the flowers are gathered in your hand, you should see a wonderful domed top with parallel stems extending below.

Step 5:  ADDING THE COLLAR

When you are satisfied with your bouquet, slip the collar up from the bottom and secure in place with the taped wires.  You won't need to twist the wires around the stems - this will add too much bulk.  Just bend them inward to the stems and let them line right up with the natural flower stems.  To hold everything in place, tie securely with a length of raffia.  (Some people find a "twisty" works well)

Step 6:  COVERING YOUR MECHANICS

Concealing your mechanics is next.  An easy way is to tuck galax around the back of the bouquet.  You could also use large ivy leaves or salal leaves to cover the floral stems.  Again, secure these in place with a length of raffia.
