Step 1: PREPARATION
Begin this bouquet by carefully choosing and hydrating the blossoms. Choose flowers
that are fresh and blemish free. Since a handwired bouquet will be out of water for
several hours, you will want to fully hydrate the blossoms. Do this by recutting all
stems under water and letting them sit at room temperature for several hours. TJ
finds it best to let them set for at least a day, maybe three, to open to the perfect
blossom stage. Refrigeration is not required until the bouquet is fully assembled. |

| Step 2: WIRING THE MATERIALS. Wire
each of the flowers and fruits using the pierce, cross pierce, hairpin, or clutch
technique. (For more information, see our Handwired
Bridal Bouquet Video) The fruits will be wired using the cross pierce
technique. This can take a little practice to get them stable. Don't be afraid
to take the wire out and try again. You will want to wire each of the cymbidium
blossoms through their throat. This will prevent them from falling apart. You will
not need to wire the Flax leaf. |

| Step 3: ASSEMBLY Assemble
the bouquet by gathering the stems together in your hand. Grouping materials
together for visual impact. One tip: The weight of the lemons can be
challenging. Try supporting them with other blossoms. TJ suggest using them
closer to the center when you first try this bouquet. Once you are comfortable with
the different material weights, try them at the side as she has.
As you add each stem, keep the wires parallel and bend them slightly outward to create the
rounded form. |
