Shannon's inspiration for this design was the beauty of nature and a desire to experiment with natural materials in unnatural applications;  mosses layered with colored rocks, beads and flowers,   blossoms growing downward,  basing materials on top of flowers, brightly colored branches.  "I had trouble stopping, I just wanted to keep creating."

Shannon Cantrell recently moved to Portland after attending the Floral Design Institute. Shannon’s mother, Shari, owns her own floral shop in the Tri-City, Washington and floral design has been in her family for years.  Shannon now works at Old Town Florist in the Pearl District of Portland.

This was the second time that Shannon's work has been accepted for the Floral Design as Art Exhibition.
