Wedding
..just the word can make me cringe when
I think of all the work and emotion that goes into planning the perfect event. For years I
worked with brides. Planning, preparing, assembling, fluffing, and praying that all would
go well. Finally, I swore, never more!. I had reached the limit of my
patience. I started teaching and turned my back on the world of weddings. Now, I train
others to take on the enormous task of satisfying those precious brides. |

Of course, never is a very long time.
And, uh oh! Here I go again. On Saturday, October 13, Seattle instructor, Corie Shye
married her long time beau, Sean Oliver. As her wedding gift, Nanette, David and I offered
to do her wedding flowers. Of course, I had said never, but, this is Corie.
Theres always going to be the exception. Little did I know what fun we would have
being part of her extended family for the weekend. |

| The wedding was in the small, coastal logging town of Aberdeen,
Washington. For this City Girl, it might as well have been the ends of the
earth. Where is Aberdeen? I asked. Out came the AAA map, carefully written
directions from Corie and a stop at the computer to log on to Mapquest for their version.
In reality, I dont get out of the city much. (As if you havent noticed.) David
rented an SUV the size of a locomotive. I was sure we had room for the whole school in
that thing! |
