Mark your calendars now!  On Thursday, October 5th, 6:00PM to 9:00PM, Floral Design Institute will host its fourth floral design exhibition, “Floral Design as Art,” as part of the Portland First Thursday Art Gallery Walk.  The exhibition will be held at the Creative Center located on the edge of the Pearl District, NW 17th Avenue and Northrup.

Floral Design as Art has proven to be a sensational success giving floral designers a forum in which to present their work to the Portland arts community. The three exhibitions staged to date drew over 1,000 guests who gave rave reviews to the designs created by local floral artists.  Click on the link below to view photos of the designs from all three exhibits.  I guarantee that you will be amazed.

This is a free and juried show open to all floral designers.   A limited number of entries will be accepted for showing in categories such as “floor standing designs,” “suspended designs,” “medium table designs,” and “large table designs.”  The show will be open to all floral design styles and forms.   Any fresh floral materials and foliages may be used.  Entries will be submitted to the jury as detailed sketches and descriptions.  The jury will be seeking designs which display exceptional use of design elements and principles, plus fine art quality creative emphasis.   The purpose of this exhibition is to draw attention to floral design as art, as well as to recognize and promote floral designers.  The Creative Center offers a wonderful gallery styled space in which to showcase the designs.  A public relations campaign will be conducted to build interest with the local press, and to encourage consumer attendance.  Floral designers: this exhibition is your chance to spotlight your floral skills to the public.  So, muster up your courage and begin designing your entry for review today!
