Want to learn how to create lovely arrangements for your home? Or maybe you have been designing for awhile and need a refresher course on design mechanics. An Introduction to Floral Design Basics is scheduled for May 31.  This full-day class is a great way to enjoy flowers and expand your floral design skills.

In Season

Who knew an onion could be so pretty? Yes,  Allium is from the onion genus. The allium giganteum pictured can vary in size from a baseball to a softball. There is a smaller variety, the globe allium; it is closer to the size of a golf ball. All the commercial varieties of the allium dry beautifully. They hold their lavender color and lose the onion odor.

As we begin this holiday weekend, let's not forget that Memorial Day is more than just the first three-day-holiday weekend of the summer and a chance for a backyard barbecue.   Memorial Day, originally Decoration Day began with a handful of American communities decorating the graves of civil war veterans with flowers.  My suggested event for all of us is to visit a cemetery and place a bouquet of flowers on the grave of a veteran this weekend.  See you there...
