In Season

Asclepias is commonly known as butterfly weed. Blooming from June to September, you will often find butterflies hovering nearby gathering the sweet nectar. A member of the milkweed family, it blooms in brilliant orange. Cut and arranged in a vase, the blooms can easily last 5 days.

Looking Ahead

If you love roses, this is a wonderful time to be alive. There are literally hundreds of rose varieties, colors, shapes and sizes available throughout the year. But, a summer rose from the garden still seems the most beautiful. Join us for Arranging Summer Roses on July 10.  You will learn updated care and handling methods, novel design styles and new techniques as you create your own beautiful summer rose arrangement.

Did you know that Portland, Oregon is home to the oldest public rose test garden in the United States?  If you love roses then you will want to visit the Portland International Rose Test Garden.  The gardens are in their full summer bloom right now and we are promised some sunshine this weekend.  So make plans now for a rose filled day.   Pack a picnic lunch, find a shady spot on the lawn surrounded by roses and enjoy!
