My favorite Saturdays start with a trip to the Portland Farmers' Market.   Located right here in the heart of the city, you can find a piece of the old-fashioned farm. Yes, it may be on cement, but these are real farmers with real farm bounty. There is nothing prettier than a bouquet of fresh flowers gathered from the Farmers' Market.

Upon arrival, David takes off to gather foodstuffs for the week (do they sell that, too?) and I head to the flower vendors. Of course, a quick stop at the biscuit baker is in order – hot from the oven with honey butter. Mmmmmmmm….

Now down to one hand, I can’t gather flowers so I begin with a quick run past all of the flower vendors to see what's in season and looking good.  I say “quick”, but it sometimes takes awhile to get around the booths. A little visit here and a moment to catch up on the gossip there.  Over the years, I’ve made many friends among the flower farmers.

Then it's time for me to get serious about creating this week's "Market Bouquet".
