image004.11.02.89.81 Candle-1.gif (45645 bytes) My favorite technique for stabilizing a pillar candle is to use 4” wood picks with waterproof tape. Start by cutting the wire off of the wood picks. Lay out two strips of waterproof tape like railroad tracks on the table. Place the wood picks upon the tape spaced evenly apart. I find about 2-3” is perfect.

Last, roll the candle across the tape, securing the picks to the end as you go. It does take two strips of tape. Don’t try it with just one. It is just too wobbly. Two is much more secure and for extra security, use three.

When making a floral centerpiece, set the pillar candle onto the flat surface of a well-anchored brick of foam. Insert the wood picks completely into the foam. This will hold your candle securely in place. Then build your floral arrangement around the candle.
