Valentine’s Day - Three Weeks and Counting! The big day is getting closer. How are you doing on the preparations? Last week we discussed preparing a theme for the day. Today, let's look at getting the pieces ready. What "pieces", you ask? Pieces are all the little things you know you need to complete your flower order. This would be bows tied, filled water tubes, assembled delivery boxes, cut ribbons to tie flower wraps, vases all cleaned, hearts ready for design insertion and inventory stocked up on all the little necessities like staples, tape, glue, enclosure cards and ink pens.
Having the "pieces" ready 3 weeks out will allow you to focus your final two weeks on customers and flowers. I find it best to create a check list of all the little pieces and note how many you do. After the holiday, note how many were left or how many more you needed. Save the list from year to year and you'll find the holiday prep gets just a bit easier each time. An added bonus of the list? What a great feeling of satisfaction as you check off each task as completed! It's these little rewards I live for...that and ice cream! (MORE BLOGS)
