Walking - Why?
The correct answer…”9”. Yes, walking is the miracle drug, cure, exercise…it solves all the problems of the world. OK, I may exaggerate but, walking does make the world a better place. An early morning walk prepares me for work. A mid-day walk focuses the creative soul. An evening walk makes me feel healthy and the night time walk (often at 2:00 am when I can’t sleep and the mind is racing) clears the mind.
Walking puts things in perspective. What is real, what is short term and what is truly important? At times a power walk is needed – fast paced and mission focused. This will allow me to tackle that spread sheet and prepare the plan of attack. Other times, a slow meandering stroll is called for. This will clear the mind and allow the space for creative genius.
Just like life, the walk begins with one step and continues with one step at a time. The task, no matter how enormous can be broken down into bits. The journey, no matter how far begins with one step. Feeling trapped, stuck, lodged in place? Take a walk and see where it will take you. I resolve to walk for life!
