I want you to know how very much I enjoyed "flower school"!!  Your institute is a top notch, first rate organization.  Previously in my life I have attended various other vocational schools and even taught dental assisting at a post secondary school in Las Vegas.  Your school far exceeds the standards and quality of education provided at any other school I have ever been associated with.  Everything from the curriculum, the enthusiastic talented teachers, the incredible arranging supplies, to the delightful work space is absolutely perfect!

I just want to take this opportunity to thank you so much for providing me such an amazing learning opportunity of the floral design for last 4 weeks. I leaned so many different and new things from both of you during both basic and advanced courses. It was not easy experience for me to learn so many new things after working in different industry for such a long time. However, I truly was able to enjoy this challenging opportunity because of the great program, your sense of humor and strong encouragement from you. Developing and providing the training program of Visual Merchandising used to be one of my key focus in my career. I totally understand that it is not easy to teach any creative matters to people who is leaning it as a new experience. I am just so amazed that your curriculum covered not only basic matters but also the creative development in such a short period of time. I was so excited to come to the class every morning to see what I will learn today! Also, our class room was always filled with big smiles and laughter because of your sense of humor. I am sure that I will miss our class room tomorrow morning. Well..... it is a time for me that I will keep leaning and improving my skill as a Floral Designer. Once again, I thank you so much for the amazing support to let me start new chapter in my life!  I look forward to seeing you agin in the different classes or any future opportunities.

Thank you so much for teaching and sharing your vast knowledge of floral design with the rest of the world! I learned so much from each one of you in Basic Floral Design and hope to see you all again. You are all awesome!

Hi, Leanne!  I have been meaning to send this email for the last few years, but this year I can no longer put it off!  I don’t know if you remember me but my wonderful husband gave me gift certificates to take the basic, and then the advanced floral classes as a distance learner  several years ago.  As someone who does love to play with flowers, I had such fun learning the “real” concepts involved in floral design, but never really had a plan to open or work in a flower shop.  I just continue to do arrangements for myself, friends and family, albeit much better than before my classes!

2 years ago I went to a local flower shop here in Hattiesburg, MS – one that had helped me with my studies – and asked to help at Valentine’s Day.  They graciously allowed that!  They were impressed that I had my own knife, scissors, etc and actually knew how to use them!  I did a few rose arrangements and some cash and carry roses.  This year I asked again, and they invited me back!  (Whew – I hadn’t put them out of business last year!!)  When I arrived Monday afternoon I found that this very small shop was down a designer!  (Talk about being nervous….)   Well, long story short, I did almost all of the rose arrangements – from single stems in paper to the grand luxury dozens, as well as some spring flower arrangements that seem to have been popular for Valentine’s Day this year. They have asked me to come back for Mother’s Day, too.

I guess what I am trying to say is this…. I know I was not exactly your target audience with no plans for a floral design career, but even so, all the wonderful things that I learned really did prepare me extremely well to act as a floral designer.  I continue to watch the weekly videos and Facebook live sessions, and I always learn something new.  I will be retiring from my “current” career as a nurse here in a few years and – who knows?  Maybe it will turn out that I really am your target audience!

Thank you for all you do – and all you have done for me!

Hello flower lovers.

I am writing this “brag” because I wanted to tell whoever I could about my incredible experience at the Floral Design Institute.

Let me tell you a little of my story.  In June I retired after nearly 25 years of teaching.  I knew that I wanted to “do flowers” for a long time.  I have done flowers for our church for a long time and wanted to “expand” my horizons.  I looked into several programs and decided on FDI.  The next decision was do I do it at the Learning Center in Portland or do it online via distance learning.  After calculating everything my husband and I decided to head to Portland with our pull behind trailer and I would do the Basic class offered in September.  I attended the Basic class.  During the basic class I realized that the advanced class would be the week following the basic class so stayed and completed the Advanced class in September of 2017 as well.

I cannot say enough wonderful things about the school, teachers, and help provided after the classes but I will make an attempt to say those things now.  The school.  From the beginning the school was very helpful not only in what was related to school but things like information in regards to RV parks etc.

The teachers.  Our main teacher for both the Basic and Advanced was Michelle.  I feel that being a retired teacher I have a pretty good grasp on what good / great teaching looks like and Michelle is a great teacher.  She is an encourager, one who teaches with care and love.  She lets you know how to improve without putting you down.  She gives multiple opportunities for success.  I can’t thank her enough.  Leanne was also one of our instructors periodically and she shared her expertise and ways of doing things. We got her perspective as well.  It was really good to have two insights into the “creative” part of floral design.  I can’t leave out David who provided what I would call the “practical” nuts and bolts of working in the floral industry.  Also very knowledgeable and a very important part of the training.

Since the training has concluded…. I LOVE the live streams on Wednesdays and also I have ordered multiple videos from the library to further and broaden what I learned at the learning center in Portland.  The resources available to purchase are wonderful as well.  My husband gave me a gift certificate from FDI for Christmas and right after school I put together my tool box with many items ordered from the school.

In summary I cannot say enough wonderful things about FDI, Leanne, Michelle, David and the support staff.  I wish Portland was closer so I could attend some of the shorter trainings and weekends.

Leanne keep up the good work! It’s awesome!!!!
