Designing for Competition & Evaluation May 19 - 21
Classes are held from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM.
Designing for Competition and Evaluation was created specifically for successful and experienced floral designer who is seeking to challenge themselves, sharpen their skills, grow to a higher level as floral designer and receive recognition for their design skills. It's one of the flower arrangement short courses that is a pathway for designers planning to take the AIFD Professional Floral Design Evaluation (PFDE).
Floral Designing in competition is a bit like running a marathon. Anyone who is in reasonable physical condition can run. But, to successfully run a full marathon requires explicit training and practice. Trying to run a marathon without preparation can be a discouraging and bitter experience. Designing for Competition and Evaluation is your training program. It will not guarantee that you will “win the race”, but this program will fully prepare you to “run a good race”.
AIFD-accredited designers, Leanne Kesler, David Kesler, and Michelle Headrick will be your instructors and trainers as your prepare to achieve your personal goals. During this intensive three-day professional flower arranging course, you will study contemporary and classic arrangements, wedding designs, body flowers, sympathy flowers, and design duplication. You will receive advanced instruction in floral design theory and mechanics with a focus on designing for a judge. Your skills will be individually critiqued and accessed. Complete mock testing and evaluation are included on the final day of the course. On completion of the course, you will be given a recommended training plan and Floral Design Institute Instructors will continue to work with you via email for up to one full year and/or twelve photo evaluations of your design work.
Please note that this is an advanced program. You must have a minimum of 500 hours of floral design experience or have successfully completed the Floral Design Institute, 120-hour Basic Floral Design Program. Classes are held 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM.
"I just wanted to thank you again for your awesome PFDE Prep course. The class really gave me the behind-the-scenes information I needed. It boosted my confidence and helped me pass the test. Best of all, my scores were high enough to get the invitation to AIFD that I was hoping for.
Your class really helped me focus my preparations in the month before the class. I used a timer and went through most of the exercises you recommended for self-led study. Also, hearing about the techniques and tricks you and Teacher Michelle used to get through the test while it was happening really helped too. There was so much information in the class, I can’t list all of the especially helpful parts, but there were tons!
And of course, meeting with you and the Tulips in Vegas was a highlight of the symposium! It was super nice to visit with other candidates at your luncheon, just to rehash how the PFDE went for all of us. Priceless."
