Rustic Christmas, long-lasting and fabulous. Let me show you how it's done.

The base, one brick of Midnight Foam and a waterproof liner taped in place using the midnight tape. Then going for the foliage is thinking the Pacific Northwest. Got noble fir, I've got cedar, and I have salal. All of these mixed together so well. For the greens, taking a rose stripper. I know we teach you not to use these in the classroom, but for foliage it's actually perfect to go ahead and get it ready for designing. Then all you need to do is take your knife, give it a little bit more movement, and then place it in ready to support your flowers and do more designing.

As I work I use the central binding point just radiating outward, filling in, letting it drape, bringing it around to the back as well, then coming in with the salal, giving the broad leaf, which gives nice contrast to the conifer. Some to the front, some to the back, and now the sides. Then to add a little more Pacific Northwest vibe, going to the mossy lichen branches. They're dried and fabulous and they can just nestle down into the foliage. Coming across the back, sneaking it in. Then to secure it using hairpin wire, just bending it in half, hooking it over one segment and forcing it down into the foam.

To create the emphasis. Some beautiful protea pulling off the leaves. I don't need that much. I want them down low. Drawing attention into the arrangement and giving it a cut, and then setting it down in the center, the emphasis area. Finding the perfect hole and then repeating that with a second one. You're moving foliage. And then tucking it right behind. Shadowing to draw attention.

To enhance and add in depth of color, some beautiful dark red Mamma Mia roses, letting them come out a little further and then bright vivid red carnations, tucking them down low, bringing in just a bit more depth of color.

The recipe, Noble Fir, Cedar, and Salal, then two beautiful Protea, five Mama Mia Roses, and five red Carnations.
