Description: Dense, plume-like stems that resemble a fox’s tail—full, soft, and perfectly tapered. Each stem is packed with tiny needle-like leaves, giving it that signature fluffy, bottlebrush effect.

Color: Rich green

Botanical facts: Even though “fern” is in the name, it’s not a true fern—it belongs to the asparagus family, which is why you’ll often see “asparagus fern” included in its common names.

Design notes: Foxtail Fern is a powerhouse foliage because it naturally combines line, form, and texture in a single stem. It’s one of those materials that can quietly elevate a design, or take center stage, depending on how you use it.

Purchasing hints: Purchase stems which are turgid and flexible without kinks or damage. Avoid yellowing foliage with shedding needles.

Conditioning: Dip the entire fern in a solution of water and Pixie Sparkle ™. This will put a wax coating on the leaves and will help keep the moisture in and prevent browning. Cut two inches off of the stem ends with a sharp knife. Hydrate in water only for two hours before storage or usage. Store in water only.

Additional notes: Foxtail Fern has excellent longevity. It holds well in and out of water.
