Botanical facts: The name Veronica derives from the resemblance of the flower to the markings on the handkerchief of St. Veronica.
Design notes: Veronica is used primarily as a filler. The long, curving flower tips add interest to a floral design.
Purchasing hints: Purchase when half of the buds are open and half still closed.
Conditioning: Remove all foliage that will be below the waterline. Cut stem ends with a sharp knife. Hydrate in a solution of water and commercial floral food for two hours before storage or usage.
Additional notes: Native to Europe and Asia. Some common relatives include calceolaria, snapdragon, foxglove, monkeyflower and penstemon.
