Michael Smith

Michael, an accredited member of AIFD, serves as the president of the Florida State Florists Association International (FSFAI). His passion for floral design and education shines through his achievements: in 2022, he was honored as the FSFAI Designer of the Year, and in 2023, he received the FSFAI Harry J. Killian Award for his dedication and service to the floral industry. Known for his competitive spirit, Michael won the prestigious Society of American Florists (SAF) Sylvia Cup Award in 2023 and placed in the top 10 at the 2024 Gateway to the Americas Cup design competition in Panama City, Panama.

With over 22 years of experience, Michael has built a remarkable career as a retail shop owner and wedding and event floral design specialist. During one eight-year period, he successfully completed over 6,000 weddings. As an accomplished speaker and educator, he takes great joy in introducing floral design elements and principles to beginners and helping advanced students refine their skills.

An enthusiastic collector and overachiever, Michael enjoys counted cross-stitch, building with Legos, and collecting antique dishes, glassware, oil paintings, and clocks. When the weather is nice, he loves outdoor activities like cycling, canoeing, and swimming.
