1" Kenzan Floral Design Frog
The kenzan, also known as a spiky frog or needlepoint holder, is a classic floral design tool traditionally used in Ikebana, the Japanese art of flower arranging. Its use has expanded globally as designers seek foam-free mechanics for sustainable and long-lasting arrangements.
This kenzan consists of a heavy metal base embedded with upright, sharp pins. These pins secure flower and foliage stems in place, holding them at precise angles without the need for floral foam. It allows the designer to insert stems firmly and individually, ensuring control over placement, direction, and spacing.
At Floral Design Institute we teach students how to use all design tools and supplies in the Basic Floral Design course.
